Challenge

A customer approached KES to evaluate a station that was forecasted to exceed capacities for their existing pressure control devices.

Approach

KES sized Becker Control Valves and Mooney Regulators, assessed the site, and created drawings for a spool piece to replace the existing regulators with minimal downtime. After design approval, we fabricated, tested, and shipped the spool piece, then installed and commissioned the new control valves to upgrade the facility.

Results

Downtime was minimized for a quick exchange and the dated regulators were replaced with Becker Control Valves to take advantage of their capacity, reliability, and near zero pressure loss. The control valves operate as zero bleed in steady state and any bleed gas was collected and sent to the downstream network for a zero emission solution.
