Our History
KTI Limited began its journey on January 1, 1988, as a small family business founded by Ken Iwai and have grown to become the industry leader in the distribution of high quality natural gas, oil, electricity and water products for Canadian Utilities and Pipelines.
Ken began his career in 1959 working at Canada Iron Limited (later renamed Canron Ltd.) in the accounting department, and was promoted into the sales division selling Steel Valves. He was recruited as the Sales Manager for Lytle Engineering (1978-1981), overseeing sales of valves and other components in the oil and gas industry.
After 23 years in the Gas and Oil business, Ken became the majority owner of Lyall Gas Products Canada in 1982, a manufacturing and distribution company of natural gas pipeline fittings and pipeline products, based in Burlington, Ontario.
Five years later, “KTI Limited” was incorporated as a family business and is now based in Aurora, Ontario.
Under Ken’s leadership the company experienced significant growth up to his passing in 2006 at the age of 70. Extremely well respected, KTI Limited has become the largest infrastructure, technology supplier to Gas, Water and Electric Utilities in Canada.
Our Facilities
KTI operates our business from state-of-the-art distribution and logistics facilities located across Canada. Our head office, located in Aurora, Ontario, is the center of our Canadian operations, housing Executive Management, Eastern Canadian Sales, Customer Service, Administration and the Central Warehouse and Logistics facility.
This center, built in 2006, provides us with more than 34,000 ft2 of indoor space and more than 5 acres of secured outdoor storage. Our teams utilize this facility to warehouse and distribute products normally destined for Eastern customers and is large enough to provide logistics services for special projects such as large pipeline project inventory, AMI inventory, staging and configuration as well as special meter handling projects. With more than 15,000 SKU’s in our inventory, the KTI Aurora facility is one of the largest of its kind in Canada.
Our Western Canadian office, located in Calgary, Alberta, houses our Western Canadian Sales office and our Western Warehouse and Logistics facility. Completed in 2016, our Calgary facility houses 30,000 ft2 of warehouse space for our Western Canadian customers, stocks an inventory of commonly used Utility, Pipeline and Oilfield products with a heavy focus on valving and metering products for immediate delivery.
